Sunday Morning Meditation

Sunday always feels like a day of rest to me. The pace is a little bit slower, the world just a wee bit quieter.

The backyard was especially still this morning. Even the hibiscus wasn’t moving a single petal.

SallyGarden206-BlogAnd just look who came back for a visit, perching nearly motionless in the old pine tree!

SallyGarden207-BlogToday will be the perfect time to get a few ducks in a row for Monday…

SallyGarden208-BlogDo some chores around the “barn”, maybe even stop out for a nap in the afternoon.

SallyGarden209-BlogKnowing me I’ll wind up knee deep in some hat project or other, that’s usually how it goes.

SallyGarden210-BlogYet I’ll hold onto this morning and how good it all felt. When I slipped away from the busy world all around me…

And whispered “hello” to the one that’s within.

SallyGarden211-BlogThanks for visiting me here at Images of Cape Cod.

Sunday Best – Great Egret Sunset

Another busy weekend, but I just had to share my pick this week for Sunday Best.

This Great Egret that suddenly appeared one evening at Mill Landing just as I was about to head for home.

ForestBeachLoop883-BlogA pair of dogs showed up just as he landed so I only had time to snap a couple of quick photos.

But I think you’ll agree…

This is a most deserving winner of a Sunday Best award!

Sunday Morning Toilette

Ahhh… There’s nothing quite like a Sunday morning to get you all caught up on those pesky chores.

Of a more personal nature.

First, the paws.

Marmee361-BlogNext, the nails.

Marmee362-BlogDon’t forget those hard-to-reach places!

Marmee365-BlogOoops — Missed a spot!

Marmee367-BlogOne last quick scratch for good measure —

Marmee383-BlogAnd when it’s all done, a nice foot bath to really make you feel refreshed.

Marmee363-BlogSuch a feeling of satisfaction. And now, we’re ready to get to work!

Well… maybe later.

Marmee385-Blog‘Til next time, thanks for visiting me here at Images of Cape Cod!

Short or Tall, A Beauty Contest for Us All

We have five amazing contestants in today’s Sunday Best competition!

Contestant #1… the Great Blue Heron, seen striding slowly through the wetlands like some stately English gentleman in a blue-gray suit, surveying his domain.

Blog-Bird379

Contestant #2, the tiny Sanderling, scootling in and out of the waves in search of his breakfast, a fast-moving, hard-working little fellow who’s tough to keep up with!

Blog-Bird380

Contestant #3, the Snowy Egret, our whimsical white feathered dancer who is known to flutter up into the air on a moment’s notice, pirouettes and all!

Blog-Bird381

Contestant #4, the Green Heron, whose rusty brown feathers provide the perfect camouflage as he fishes quietly in the shadows of the muddy channel banks.

Blog-Bird382

And last but not least, the Great White Egret, a statuesque wading bird whose S-shaped neck, bright yellow bill and long black “silk stocking” legs make him a sight to behold!

Blog-Bird383

And there you have them, a dazzling lineup for you today!

Please leave your comment in the Reply Box and let me know which one gets your vote today for Sunday Best.
