‘Night Super Moon

‘Been following this moon for days, hoping for clear skies tonight.

And standing there at Forest Beach, up it came like a molten ball of lava. Rising right up over the chimney tops, lifting up, up, up.

moon-super-nov2016-9b-blogI think this moon gave us all something to look up and cheer for, to believe in. Something bigger than ourselves.

Rise up, rise up, it said to me.

More tomorrow… ‘Night Super Moon.

A New Day

The new day dawns.

Stretching out before us with a fresh chance to step forward and make of it what we will.

forestbeachloop137And how will we live this new day? Will it be for others, or will it be for ourselves alone?

Blog-ForestBEachLoop711For love, or for hate?

Blog-Marmee242Will we build, or will we tear down?

Blog-Osprey56Reach out for greater understanding or cling in fear to the safe world we already know?

Osprey78-BlogI guess the choice is ours, and ours alone.

Blog-ForestBeachLoop540We have this day.

Friday’s Comin’

It’s been a long week.

The good news is, and I have this on good authority…

That Friday’s JUST around the corner!

So hang in there, everybody!  😉

Marmee’s Home

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that Marmee was ever not a part of our family and our home.

We found her at the local rescue. They had her isolated for over a long time due to recurrent bouts of the sniffles, so no one had really gotten a chance to meet her.

This was the photo I first saw of her online.

She was looking straight at me, and I fell in love with her.

When we met her, she hopped up on my lap and literally tried to crawl inside my stomach like a baby kangaroo.

But when we brought her home, it took a long while for Marmee to learn to trust us, to relax.

The steps were small, but little by little she came to know that we were her family. You could almost see her beginning to realize that she didn’t need to be scared anymore. That she could let go of the bad memories, let in the good ones.

That this was the family she had always wanted and longed for.

The family that was going to allow her to be her sweet, loving self.

The family that was going to love her right back.

Yes indeed, our sweet girl is home. And she knows that Monday, and every day, is Marmee day!

A Sight for Sore Eyes

We lost some of our Great Blue Herons over this past winter.

Each year, a few remain with us while most of the population migrates southward.

Many of the few who stayed with us this year, sadly, succumbed to frostbite and starvation during a winter that was unusually harsh and long.

Perhaps because of their disappearance, it seemed to me to take forever for them to return to us this spring.

But when they did, my oh MY, they were a sight for sore eyes…

Their quiet, regal beauty…

Takes my breath away.

Every time.
