In Search of More Hours

Well it’s official.

I need more hours in the day to share with you the incredible Beauty that I find here on Cape Cod.

Every time I step outside with my camera, it’s there. Right there in front of me.

Like most of us I wear several wide brim hats – custom milliner, Old Friends  sponsor, Marmee’s Mom, my Mom’s primary caregiver – I am determined to FIND those moments to do just that.

It’s that important.  ❤

Something Special

I hear this question all the time when I am out with my camera.

“Seen anything special?”

The fact of the matter is, I see so MUCH “special” but don’t have nearly the time I’d like to edit and share it all!  😉

Like this osprey that was flying over me at Mill Landing the other day, who just happened to pass behind the windshield of the boat docked in front of me.

Or the poke berries changing from their summer-to-autumn clothes. I remember these from my childhood, especially when I made the mistake of squeezing their “inky” berries!

This dapper fellow caught my eye the other morning as he strutted his stuff for the gull-gals down at Forest Beach. A special kind of handsome, don’t you think?

Ever since I can remember I have loved thistle. And now, with the camera, I can’t seem to get enough of these purple flowers with prickly stems, the way they catch the light…

Sometimes it’s the simplest thing I’ll see that feels special.

Like this sailboat that’s been anchored at Forest Beach. Every time I pass it and see the waves gently lapping its edges, it makes me feel so calm, so peaceful.

I suppose the truth of the matter is that “special” is in the eye of the beholder.

Maybe the next time someone asks me, “Seen anything special?” I’ll simply say, “Why yes…”

“And YOU?”

Beauty Lives

Every day I am reminded…

As I paddle along…

That no matter how much ugliness there might seem to be in our world…

Beauty, in all its many forms,

In all its shapes and sizes…

LIVES.

And the only thing I love more than experiencing beauty…

Is sharing it.

‘Night all.  ❤

Beyond the Blur

Ever get home from a shoot, and find out that your focus wasn’t quite what it should have been?

That your images are more than just a little blurry?

canadageeseinwinter-redriver-4-blogThat happened to me yesterday morning.

I’d been drawn to the Red River inlet where I know the brants love to gather. Suddenly I could hear a flock of Canadas flying up, honking wildly, stirred by some dog nearby.

Oh my, they were glorious, so close I could hear the wind through their feathers!!

Yet try as I might, I could not move fast enough to get any clear shots.

Still, back home in my studio, it seemed such a shame to just let the photos go. And in doing so the magic of the moment as well; the shapes, the movements, the sounds of those birds still so fresh in my mind.

Determined to find some way to keep the moment alive, I began to dig a little deeper…

canadageeseinwinter-redriver-1-blogDetermined to find some way to rekindle the magic…

canadageeseinwinter-redriver-2-blogThe magic they had shared and left behind for me.

To share with you.  ❤
