Any morning at Red River Beach…
A Good Mornin’.
Sharing an adorable Willet pair I met recently at Red River.
First, Mrs. Willet began a bit of preening.
Are one of my very favorites? 😉
I always look for them in the fall at Forest Beach, down along the shore.
Tirelessly chasing the waves in and out, in and out, in and out.
They’re not so easy to follow with a hand-held point-and-shoot, but I’m persistent.
Yesterday morning, I spotted a group of them on the sand among the gulls.
Not exactly as still as statues, but even with the stiff wind I was able to get a few nice snaps.
Some were preening…
(Don’t tell them I said this, but I could have sworn I heard some snoring!)
“Say, Harry. What do you suppose she’s staring at?”
“Alright Harry, let me take a look. Everyone knows I’ve got better eyes than you.”
And sure enough, in unison and right on cue, they struck the perfect pose for me.
But by the time I reached the jettie, they had flown off!
I’ll have to break the news to them another time.
