Welcome, Full Snow Moon 2019 – Day 50 (Bonus Package)

Full Snow Moon, Cape Cod style.

Shared with a Lady Buffle…

Along with a hybrid Buffle x Common Goldeneye, diving for dinner at Rock Harbor after sunset.

And a glorious Snow Moon rising behind a dune at Forest Beach in Chatham.

For me, nothing could’ve been more wonderful.  ❤

After Buck Moon – Waning Gibbous Moonset 7-30-18

Just made it for the moonset this morning at Forest Beach, and I always say it’s even more special when you get to share it with a friend!

After our Full Buck Moon on the 27th, the moon is now in its Waning Gibbous Phase thru’ August 4th. Each day we watch its illumination get a bit smaller, and a bit smaller.

For me, every moon phase I see is more beautiful than the last one.

I somehow think, my little friend quite agreed!

Super Blue Blood Moon Show Foiled by Clouds on Cape Cod

Well it looked like all systems were go here just before 6 AM yesterday morning.

As I stepped out onto the crunchy snow I could see the moon, full and bright, through the trees.

All I could think of was how amazing this moment was going to be – witnessing this rare “Moon Punch” known as Super Blood Blue Moon that moon-gazers like me dream about!

But then I noticed something through my lens.

A wisp of clouds was passing over the lower edges of the moon.

Within moments, a thick bank of clouds had risen up to greet the setting moon just as the show was about to begin.

I did my best to get a few shots of it thru’ the trees before it got totally covered up.

And then I stopped, and just stared up at that big beautiful orb in the sky.

Soaking in this exquisite moment as the full moon was setting in the West, the sky brightening in the East.

And I thought to myself, Super Blue Blood Moon or no Super Blue Blood Moon.

I do believe I’ll take this kind of magic, anytime.

Fly Me to the Moon

I love that song, “Fly Me to the Moon”.

And tonight, on New Year’s Eve AND Full Wolf Moon Eve, I am thinking of all the geese who are still flying high over Cape Cod tonight.

Alive and well.

I love them all, to the moon and back.

Happy New Year, Everybody!

The Setting of Super Moon

I’ve never actually witnessed the setting of a full moon.

And as you can see, I was not alone this morning for the setting of Super Moon at Forest Beach.

It was magical, watching that beautiful creamy orb slowly sink down below the rooftops, behind the trees.

And the company was splendid!  😉
