First Leaf Peeper Spotted on Cape Cod

We get a lot of visitors here on the Cape in autumn.

They make their pilgrimage without fail every year to witness the brilliantly colored leaves along the marshes and ponds.

I spotted my very first leaf peeper the other day.

This particular leaf peeper seemed to be quite the expert, with the keenest eyes and the sharpest focus I have ever seen.

And no binoculars required.

I could see that she had a real gift for picking out the best leaves.

She wasn’t the only one.

All in all, my leaf peeper appeared to be pleased by what she saw as she sniffed the air and –

Well, as you can plainly see —

Smiled.

Goodnight, Tiger Kitty

I cried for a little tiger kitty this morning. She got hit by a car, out on the busy road where we live.

‘Probably heard a bird across the street, early in the quiet morning, and decided to cross the street.

Like she’d done a hundred times before.

A kind Samaritan stopped, moved her from the middle of the road, laid her over to the side. The woman found a shopping bag in her car, and added a note addressed to whoever she might belong to.

The kitty actually might not have even had a home since we’ve heard that neighbors up the street had been feeding her and giving her a bed under their porch for a while now.

I was surprised how much it affected me. After all,  I’d never met this kitty.

Still, I want to acknowledge her life.

A life that deserved some tears as it passed from the world.

I’ve been kissing my sweet Marmee all day since, so glad she’s here, with us still.

Goodnight, Tiger Kitty, rest well.

You are loved. ❤

The Cat Daze of Summer

You’ve heard of the “dog days of summer”?

Well, we have something similar here, too.

The days are heavy, hot and humid, without a breeze in sight.

Nothing moves much…

At all.

We find it’s better to be  belly up, than not.

All the experts tell us that this will end around August 11th.

But Marmee and I have heard that “tall tail” before.

So we’ll keep you posted.

With paws crossed that cooler days are just around the corner.

And in the meantime, we’ll be doing whatever it takes to keep a smile going under our whiskers.

Whatever it takes.  😉  ❤

Hot August Weekend, Cape Cod Style

Running tight on time, but I wanted to share a few of the things I spotted this weekend on the Cape.

It seemed like everything was either blooming..

Or bobbing on the sea.

Big and small.

I got scolded by a seagull who bobbed his head at me, told me it’s not polite to stare.

I ALWAYS forget that.

And I saw, in real time, the kindness of two boys bobbing along on their paddle boards who took such care not to disturb a family of egrets who were hunting for their evening meal.

Co-existing.

Neither one losing anything at all.

And gaining everything..

And of course Marmee was the center of my weekend, too.

As she is, well, everyday. Sometimes bobbing, forever blooming.  ❤

Hope you had a good weekend, too.   😉
