Cedar Waxwings, Be Still My Heart

I have always, always, ALWAYS loved Cedar Waxwings.

Yet I’d never seen one up close.

Until today…

Their peachy brown and rich yellow coloring, and distinctive crest and eye masks make my heart go pitter-patter.

And those yellow tail tips that look like they’ve been dipped in a pot of paint!

I spotted these two high up in a tree as I was in search of Snowy Egrets, having quite the conversation.

But they must have heard my heart as it pitter-pattered, for all at once —

They were gone!

Be still, my heart? No, never.

Not when it comes to Cedar Waxwings…  ❤ ❤ ❤
