Beyond the Blur

Ever get home from a shoot, and find out that your focus wasn’t quite what it should have been?

That your images are more than just a little blurry?

That happened to me yesterday morning.

I’d been drawn to the Red River inlet where I know the brants love to gather. Suddenly I could hear a flock of Canadas flying up, honking wildly, stirred by some dog nearby.

Oh my, they were glorious, so close I could hear the wind through their feathers!!

Yet try as I might, I could not move fast enough to get any clear shots.

Still, back home in my studio, it seemed such a shame to just let the photos go. And in doing so the magic of the moment as well; the shapes, the movements, the sounds of those birds still so fresh in my mind.

Determined to find some way to keep the moment alive, I began to dig a little deeper…
